From 2023 they would like to bring the Saturday competitions in line with the rest of the week, with the first tee being 7:00 – further information about this will be published in due course.

Rules Night

All members have been invited to Ballyclare Golf Club on Monday 21st March 2022 to attend a Rules Night hosted by Golf Ireland. The evening will start at 7:30 pm.
As Golf Ireland have asked for a confirmation of number attending please email info@greenacres-golfclub.co.uk as soon as by Thursday 17th March if you plan to attend.

Rules

From 1st April 2022 all Clubs will revert to the rules of golf regarding score cards with the requirement for a marker to complete and return a physical score card with both signatures on it.  Members can still enter their scores into the handicap system via the Touch Screen or the HowDidiDo app.
Also we expect members to put all Handicap Index, Course Handicap and Playing Handicap on the score cards. DQ penalties will apply to the Handicap Index.

Our Course was re-rated in August 2021, and we have received a new rating for our tee boxes as follows:

TeeCourse RatingSlope Rating
White69.9123
Blue68.3117
Red71.1124

Alternate Day Competitions – 60 Plus

As Golf Ireland have stated that ‘alternative day’ competitions can be run over no more than three consecutive days we are going to let our members decide which days to run the 60 Plus Summer competitions over. See notice board for further details

To date the majority of members have voted for the competition to be played from Wednesday to Friday each week. There is still time to have your say.

Match Play

The entries are open for the 2022 match play competitions. Visit the Match Play page for further details.

Transportation [Buggies]

Our transportation policy states:
During a round a player must not ride on any form of transportation during a club competition except as authorised or later approved by the Match & Handicap committee.

Penalty for Breach of Local Rule: The player gets the General Penalty for each hole during which there is a breach of the local rule. If the breach occurs between the play of two holes, it applies to the next hole.

As there has been an increase in members using buggies Match & Handicap want to compile a list of members who are using them. So, we would ask ALL existing members who use transportation and any new members wishing to use transportation during 2022 to email keith@greenacres-golfclub.co.uk, so he can complete the list.

Score Card Return – 2022

From 1st April all Covid provisions will no longer apply, which means the Rules of Golf 3.3b will apply.

Electronic Score Cards
Although members can continue to use the HowDidiDo app to return competition scores we will not accept them if a physical score card is not returned.

For General Play rounds members can use the HowDidiDo and Golf Ireland app but a physical score card must be returned as well.

Physical Score Cards
The player’s score is kept on his or her scorecard by the marker.

Marker’s Responsibility:
After each hole during the round, the marker should confirm with the player the number of strokes on that hole (including strokes made and penalty strokes) and enter that gross score on the scorecard. When the round has ended the marker must sign the hole scores on the scorecard.

Player’s Responsibility:
During the round, the player should keep track of his or her scores for each hole. When the round has ended, the player should

  • Carefully check the hole scores entered by the marker and raise any issues with the Committee.
  • Must make sure that the marker signs the scorecard,
  • Must not change a hole score entered by the marker except with the marker’s agreement or the Committee’s approval, and
  • Must sign the scorecard and promptly return it to the Committee, after which the player must not change the scorecard.
  • If the player breaches any of these requirements in Rule 3.3b, the player is disqualified.

Scoring in Handicap Competition.
The player is responsible for making sure that his or her handicap is shown on the scorecard. If the player returns a scorecard without the right handicap:

Handicap on Scorecard Too High or No Handicap Shown. If this affects the number of strokes the player gets, the player is disqualified from the handicap competition. If it does not, there is no penalty.

Handicap on Scorecard Too Low. There is no penalty and the player’s net score stands using the lower handicap as shown.

Under WHS these rules apply to the Handicap Index only but we would ask members to record their Course Handicap and Playing Handicap on the score card.
