Champagne Scramble

Format Overview

  • All players tee off on every Par 4 and Par 5.
  • The team selects the best drive.
  • From that position, all players play their own ball to the hole.
  • Stableford scoring is used.
  • The number of counting scores depends on team size.

Par 3 Procedure

  • On all five Par 3s, every player plays their own ball from tee to hole.
  • No drive is selected.
  • Par 3 tee shots do not count toward minimum drive requirements.
  • Stableford scoring applies as normal.
  • Any gross 2 qualifies for the 2s competition.

Par 4 & Par 5 Procedure

  • All players hit a tee shot.
  • The team selects the best drive.
  • The player whose drive is chosen plays it as it lies or prefer the lie.
  • All other players place or drop within one club length, no nearer the hole.
  • All players then play their own ball to the hole.
  • The appropriate number of Stableford scores is recorded.

Handicaps

  • Each player will receive 80% of their Course Handicap as their Playing Handicap.
  • Stableford points are calculated using the stroke index on the card.

Competition Entry

Scramble Competition Entry

  • Cost is £5 per player
  • Members playing in the Scramble may sign into the Scramble Competition if they want the touchscreen to display their Playing Handicap for the Scramble.
  • Prize vouchers will be awarded based on the number entries.

Singles Stableford Option

  • Cost is £5 per player.
  • Members who do not wish to play in the Scramble should sign into the Singles Stableford Competition.
  • Prize vouchers will be awarded based on the number entries.

7. Scorecard Requirements

Scramble Competition Entry

Members playing in the Scramble must ensure their scorecards clearly shows:

  • Which player’s drive was used on each Par 4 and Par 5.
  • Whether any player scored a 2 on any of the five Par 3s.
  • At least two gross scores *
  • The total Stableford points for the team on each hole *

* The team score on each hole will be the best two Stableford points returned by the team. To allow verification of these points, the gross scores of at least two team members must be recorded on every hole.

Scorecards that do not meet these requirements may be subject to disqualification.

Completed scorecards should be returned to the Saturday Slot as normal, they do NOT need to be entered onto the Club Computer.

Singles Stableford Option

Members who do not wish to play in the Scramble must complete a score card and should return the score on the Club Computer


8. Results & Tie-Breaks

  • Total Stableford points determine the winners.
  • Ties will be decided by back 9, then back 6, then back 3 before going to the final hole

9. Local Rules

  • All play is subject to the Local Rules of the Club and the Rules of Golf.
