General Play Scores / Cards for Handicap

Just a reminder to all members we can not accept score cards for handicap as we are currently playing from Winter Mats and are lifting the ball through the general area.

Any cards submitted will be kept for reference only.

Players’ current handicap indexes will now be used to determine shots, unless their handicap index on the day of the match exceeds the lowest handicap index they held between 1st July 2021 and 1st July 2022, in which case they use their eligibility handicap index to calculate their course handicap.

The playing handicap limit of 15 for each pair will still apply, but using the criteria above as opposed to handicap index on 1st January.

December Update

Saturday Tee Times

On Saturday 11th December the tee times will be moved back 30 minutes and then from Saturday 18th December the first group will go out at 9:00. Howdidido and the touch screen have been updated accordingly.

The Saturday competitions will remain with a 9:00 start until further notice.

Winter Tees

The Golf Centre will be moving to Winter Tees this weekend with all competitions played of them until further notice.

Course Conditions

With the move to Winter Tee boxes there will be no further handicap adjustments made until we move back onto the grass tee boxes. This means the Sunday and Wednesday competitions will be ‘non qualifying’ and the ability to submit general play scores will be disabled on our handicapping software and the Golf Ireland app.

In conjunction with this change we will amend the E3 local rule to extend it to the General Area as follows:

E-3 Preferred Lies
When a player’s ball lies in the general area [through the green], the player may take free relief once by placing the original ball or another ball in and playing it from this relief area:

Reference Point:
Spot of the original ball.

Size of Relief Area Measured from Reference Point:
6 inches from the reference point, but with these limits:

Limits on Location of Relief Area:
Must not be nearer the hole than the reference point and Must be in the general area.
In proceeding under this Local Rule, the player must choose a spot to place the ball and use the procedures for replacing a ball under Rules 14.2b(2) and 14.2e.

The penalty for breach of these Local Rule is the General Penalty
