iii) For a pair to be eligible, their lowest Handicap Indexes in the previous calendar year, when added together, must not be lower than 14.0.

iii) For a pair to be eligible, their lowest Handicap Indexes in the previous calendar year, when added together, must not be lower than 25.0. iv) All matches are played off scratch.

FormatFour-ball Match Play.
Handicappingi) To be eligible, players must have a Handicap Index that was active on 1 January in the year of the event and a lowest Handicap Index of no higher than 24.0 in the previous calendar year. A player with an Handicap Index of 24.1 or higher in the previous calendar year may still compete, but must use a Handicap Index of 24.0 to determine Course and Playing Handicaps in matches.
ii) Players must have 20 scores recorded on their handicap record as of 31 December 2023.
iii) For a pair to be eligible, their lowest Handicap Indexes in the previous calendar year, when added together, must not be higher than 36.0. Other than provided for in e) i) above, dropping down of players to meet the combined limit of 36.0 is not permitted. Ie. Two players with Handicap Indexes of 24.0 or lower cannot drop down in handicap to meet the combined Handicap limit.
iv) There must be no more than a 10.0 shot difference between the lowest handicap index in the previous year, of the 2 players selected as a pair.
v) Strokes will be calculated using the players’ lowest Handicap Indexes in the previous calendar year.
vi) Strokes will be taken against the player with the lowest Handicap Index, using 90% of the difference between the rounded Course Handicap of each player.

FormatFour-ball Match Play.
Handicappingi) To be eligible, players must have a Handicap Index that was active on 1 January in the year of the event and a lowest Handicap Index of no lower than 15.0 in the previous calendar year.
ii) To compete a pair the two players must have a combined handicap index of no lower than 34.0 in the previous calendar year.
iii) Each player must have 20 scores recorded on their handicap record on or before 31 December 2023.
iv) Strokes will be calculated using the players’ lowest Handicap Indexes in the previous calendar year.
v) Strokes will be taken against the player with the lowest Handicap Index, using 90% of the difference between the rounded Course Handicap of each player.

FormatSingles Match Play.
HandicappingThe Team shall comprise 3 players in each of the following two handicap bands; 1) no lower than 10.0 or higher than 22.0, 2) no lower than 22.1 or higher than 36.0, both based on the players lowest handicap index in the previous calendar year.
ii) No drop down permitted.
iii) The 3 players within the lower band shall compete at the “Home” venue and the 3 players in the higher band shall compete at the “Away” venue.
iv) Players will compete in handicap order at each venue
v) All players must have 20 scores recorded on their handicap record as of 31 December 2023
vi) Full allowance between the Rounded Course Handicap of the players in any match will determine the number of strokes

FormatSingles Stableford
Regulationsi) Competition shall be open to all Golf Ireland affiliated members in the Ulster Region. ii) Stableford – Singles in Stage 1 and 3-person team in Regional Final
iii) Two rounds of 18 holes – the Club Qualifier and the Final

Club Qualifier:
iv) Each club will hold an 18 holes stableford competition and send the winning qualifiers in each of the classes listed in e) below to the Regional Final.
v) If a Club has no class (a) player, an extra class (b) player may be substituted but must use a handicap Index of 15.9

Final:
vi) The Final will be an 18 holes stableford team competition.
vii) If a qualifying player reduces her handicap index after qualifying, she may still compete in the final, off her current handicap index in the class in which she qualified. viii) If a Player increases her handicap index after qualifying, she may still compete in the final, playing off the maximum handicap index in the class in which she qualified. ix) Best TWO scores to count at each hole and all 3 scores at the Par 3’s
x) In the event of a tie in the regional final, this will be broken in accordance with the General Regulations ie. Use the best 2 cards then the best card etc
HandicappingThere are three classes for handicap purposes:
a) Index 15.9 and under
b) Index 16.0-23.9 &
c) Index 24.0-36.0

Penalty Scores

Members are reminded when you sign into a competition or general play round you MUST return a score.

Taken from the rules of Handicapping. A player is expected to:

  • Submit acceptable scores for handicap purposes as soon as possible after the round is completed and before midnight local time,
  • Attempt to make the best score possible at each hole,
  • Act with integrity by following the Rules of Handicapping and to refrain from using, or circumventing, the Rules of Handicapping for the purpose of gaining an unfair advantage,
  • Submit acceptable scores to provide reasonable evidence of their demonstrated ability,
  • Play by the Rules of Golf, and
  • Certify the scores of fellow players

Winter Mats

The Golf Club have Green Winter Mats for sale at a cost of £10.

  • Members should speak to a member of the Council
  • or put £10 into an envelope and write your name and ‘Winter Mat’ on the front

We will then leave the mat for you at reception to collect.

Members are not required to purchase a mat from the Club, you can source your own or the Golf Centre have some Astro Turf for sale.
